I believe when women encourage each other – we unleash potential that glorifies God. As I look back on my life, God has strategically placed women in my path that have had such a gift for speaking love and truth into my heart. They have had just the words during my lowest moments to boost me up. They have seen gifts in me that I never knew were there. They made me believe I could do things beyond my dreams. They have opened my eyes to old principles in God’s word with a fresh lens. They have simply opened my eyes to what God could do through me if I just said “yes.”
Many of those women were just born encouragers. Some of you are born encouragers and you enjoy this. However, there is a seed in you stirring about formally mentoring some women. With that seed, there is probably doubt. I can imagine Satan wants nothing more than women running far away from this cause – so I believe he loves to dish out doubt. Why would we want an army of Godly women with real life experiences pouring into younger women? Showing them what they have learned – the ups and the downs. He doesn’t, but our God does. He mentions it in Titus 2.
I had the incredible pleasure of my first formal mentoring experience in a Titus 2 group. There are just no words for how it changed my life. I am a better mom, a better friend, daughter and wife. I am actually now a business owner using my gifts and talents to serve God and others because of the work she helped do in my heart. Just like you, my mentor isn’t perfect and she didn’t do it all right. However, she has years and years of walking through valleys and high points with the Lord and we learned from every moment. My binder (full of her wisdom and lessons) is like gold to me. I am so thrilled it is now available to so many through this site.
If you don’t have someone encouraging you to do this and it’s an interest, let me be the one to encourage you to become a mentor. I believe in you. There’s a reason you a reading this. Some young mom or single girl needs you. If you are reading this and know of the perfect mentor that doesn’t believe in herself… please take a moment to encourage her specifically. Lives will be changed, this I know from experience.
Sometimes, just simple encouragement is what many women need to unleash the potential God has for our lives. Think of someone you know who’s made to be a mentor. Encourage them today!
