Ten Truths About People Jul22

I’d like to share a portion of an article written by Dr. Tim Elmore, a leading authority on how to understand the next generation and prepare tomorrow’s leaders today. He is a best-selling author, international speaker, and president of Growing Leaders.

He entitled this article section “Ten Truths Every Leader Should Know About People.”  I believe these are excellent insights on how we’re to support and serve younger women through our mentoring:

1.  People are often insecure.  Give them confidence.

2 . People like to feel special.  Honor them.

3.  People look for a better tomorrow.  Give them hope.

4.  People need to be understood.  Listen to them.

5.  People lack direction.  Navigate for them.

6.  People are needy.  Speak to their needs first.

7.  People get emotionally low.  Encourage them.

8.  People want to associate with success.  Help them win.

9.  People desire good relationships.  Build community on your team.

10. People seek models to follow.  Set the example for them.

As mentors we seek to build confidence in each woman about who they are in Christ.  We seek to make each woman know and feel loved and special.  We seek to bring hope as we focus on God’s Word and know He’s working all things for their good.  We seek to listen to them and understand what they’re dealing with.  We seek to help point the way and walk with them.  We seek to encourage them with God’s truth and our words of encouragement.  We seek to help them understand their purpose and calling and equip them to find success.  We seek to build community with us and the other women God has placed within the mentoring group.  We seek to model for them what it means to walk as women who love the Lord with all our hearts, surrendered to His plans, and living out His life within this world.

WOW!  What an awesome calling we have as mentors!

For His glory and the next generation,

Regina
