Spiritual Mothers, Daughters, Sisters

We were created by a God of relationship.  A God who doesn't need us, but desires our companionship.  And being made in His image, we are also created for relationship. Relationship with God, but also relationship with each other.

The Titus 2 scriptures call us to be disciplemakers.  To model to the younger generation what a holy, reverent life looks like.  This is us.  Women who are a little further down the road than others.  Women who have experienced more of the ups and downs of life, more in their relationship with God, and share their "more" with others.  We are Spiritual Mothers.

Yet I believe that is just one piece of the puzzle and that more is required of us.  Titus 2:4 says "older women are to train the younger women."  No matter our age, we are all older than some as well as younger than others.  Therefore, should it not also be expected that we ourselves have an older woman training, encouraging, and nudging us?  Look around - who in your life is older than you?  Who is living a life for Christ, a life that you look up to, a life you admire? Who is a Spiritual Mother in your life?  We are Spiritual Daughters.

And then, of course, there are the women that stand next to us through every detail of our lives.  Women in the same season as us, the women that we call our friends, our peers.  Women who make us better just by being on our side and having our backs.  Women who at times see our ugly, messy selves and love us anyway.  We are Spiritual Sisters.

Who in your life is learning from you?
Who in your life are you learning from?
Who in your life are you doing life with?

Spiritual Mothers.  Spiritual Daughters.  Spiritual Sisters.  We are better together.

For His glory and the next generation,
